"The spring migration at Point Pelee only happens once a year. For 72 hours. Then it's gone."

This May 15-17, 100,000 warblers cross Lake Erie and descend on Point Pelee National Park. Most people will never see this spectacle. You can.

MEET RICK SZABO
Rick Szabo

"Birding Retreats exist to bring people together through the simple joy of paying attention.

We're a community built on curiosity, not competition. A space where birders of all levels can slow down, look up, and experience nature side by side. Leave your stress and life lists at the door. Bring binoculars, wonder, and a sense of humor.

Our trips are about connection: to the land, to the birds, to each other. They're a chance to unplug from the noise and return to what's real: good people, shared stories, migration magic, and the thrill of spotting something wild.

Led with care, heart, and a little mischief, these retreats are a reminder that joy isn't found in checking off boxes. It's found in the in-between moments.

This is birding for the soul."

Reviews from Fellow Birders

M. G.

POINT PELEE

"Rick is a huge, brilliant, happy personality and his BOUNDING enthusiasm is only matched by his depth of knowledge on the birds which he clearly adores sharing. Has a very good way of teaching birding by ear too which is a very, very difficult skill to teach. Very fun, cheeky, and hilarious. But also very keenly aware of everyones welfare and always checking to make sure we'd all seen the birds etc. Good bloke."

POINT PELEE

"Can't say enough. Gifted, skilled, incredible birder with encyclopedic knowledge. Went above and beyond to make the trip fulfilling and memorable and to find us as many birds as possibly! Also accommodated every need of every person on the trip - I do not know how he did it but he did."

"The guides were excellent, very good knowledge of birds and bird calls. Very easy to get on with. Good fun. They made us all feel at ease from day one"

Quick Answers

Do I need my own binoculars? +
Rick recommends bringing your own if you have them, but you can still enjoy the tour without binoculars. Many birds will be close enough to see with the naked eye during peak migration at Point Pelee.
What if it rains? +
Tour runs rain or shine (birds don't cancel for weather!). Bring a rain jacket and waterproof shoes. Some of the best birding happens in light rain when birds fly lower.
Can I cancel if something comes up? +
Full refund if you cancel 7+ days before your tour date. Cancellations within 7 days receive a 50% refund. No refunds for no-shows.
How many people in the group? +
Maximum 10 people per tour. Small groups mean better sightings, more personalized coaching, and a chance to actually see the birds (not just the backs of other birders' heads).
Is food included? +
Bring your own packed lunch. Light snacks are available for purchase at the park. There's a water fountain on-site to refill your bottle throughout the day.
